Argüeso Celebrates 100-Year Anniversary

Muskegon, Mich., July 3, 2008 – M. Argüeso & Co., Inc. (www.argueso.com) is celebrating 100 years of continuous operation. “Argüeso began business in 1908 importing fibers and Candelilla wax from Northern Mexico,” said Allen Vogt, Argüeso’s president and general manager. “Today, the company ranks as the world’s largest manufacturer of investment casting waxes, with production facilities in Muskegon, Michigan, Rosemead, California, and Kunshan, China.”
According to Vogt, the company’s growth accelerated after establishing a laboratory and experimental pilot plant in Mamaroneck, New York, in 1939. Argüeso used its research and engineering capabilities to pioneer modern wax-blending. Today the company is headquartered in Muskegon, employs more than 200 people worldwide, and holds a number of wax-related patents.

Argüeso supplies more than 400 customers in 25 countries and maintains a global network of distributors that serve their needs. The company has much to celebrate, particularly since relocating its headquarters to Muskegon in 2005. For example, as a part of Argüeso’s multiyear consolidation effort, the company made significant capital investments in its research and development department and completed the expansion of a new, 30,000-square-foot warehouse. Also in 2005, Argüeso opened a facility in China to complement its two U.S. manufacturing operations. As a result of these efforts, Argüeso enters its second century of operation with a strong global presence and consolidated capabilities at its Midwest headquarters’ location.

M. Argüeso & Co., Inc. is the largest manufacturer of investment casting wax in the world. The company’s products and technical expertise are focused on the process needs of the entire foundry, not just a customer’s need for wax.
